This Week Was The Longest Week Of My Entire Life... In A Good Way

This week was seriously the longest most exciting week of my entire life. I finally got to start school and had the opportunity to audition for the Main Stage Dance Production here at AMDA. But more on that later. :)

So earlier this week, we decided to have a girls afternoon and get some last minute relaxing in before classes started. So because we live close to the Santa Monica beach we decided hey lets go to the beach! So we put on our swimsuits, packed some sunscreen and snacks, and went on our merry way! Of course, we didn't check the weather so once we got there we were totally and completely freezing! hahaha It happens to the best of us, but we had tons of fun anyway!

My week normally goes like this. I wake up for a 9am CORE technique class everyday. They are either a Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, or Modern Class. Then I'll either go to another dance class of another style or I'll go to Dance Theatre Project. DTP is where you audition and your cast in a piece, you learn it and then you have to remember and what not for demos and such. You do 2 pieces per semester and you won't necessarily perform your pieces for anyone, but it does give you ensemble experience and connections with outside choreographers, which is crucial in this business that I've chosen to be apart of. Then I'll either have an Acting class, Voice Production Speech Class, or Nutrition and Fitness, and then go to more dance classes til like 7pm. ITS SO FANTASTIC. My sister Shyla actually asked me the other day if I even got homework. Yes everyone I do, but my homework consists of remembering dance combinations and memorizing monologues. That's it. #bejealous

Emily and I finally ran out of clothes that we had to do our laundry. Don't worry we figured out the laundry card situation and now have drawers full of clean dance clothes!

Room 402 also had our first dinner party this week! Emily made everyone Veggie Pasta and it was DELICIOUS. Honestly, it was the most fantastic thing. I kinda totally and completely loved it!

Sometimes it's 11pm... and your really hungry and you decide to go on a Denny's date, so you do, and its the most fantastic thing ever. Really... who doesn't like food especially pancakes at like 11pm? Well except for me... I had a sandwich... but it was TOTALLY DELICIOUS so it was okay haha.

Sister Pennington came into LA this week to visit her son and daughter who live out here. So she being the super awesome person that she is took me out to PF Changs for dinner and let two of my awesome friends come along! It was TONS of fun seeing her again and she brought me stuff from my mom... .it was a total win win situation. :) Pictured below are the before dinner photos!

And the after dinner photos :)

This week I also got the chance to audition for the Main Stage Dance Production. This year its called "All Cracked Up", its a remix of "The Nutcracker". So instead of just being ballet it has all kinds of dance... from pointe all the way to stepping. It's really going to be an AMAZING show. And guess what I auditioned, got a call back and was put in 1st cast! Which know, that NEVER happens for First semesters. Most first semesters don't even get a callback let alone get to be in all the main pieces with 7th and 8th semester students. I was like freaking out last night when I read the cast list... FREAKING OUT. But anyways,  Rehearsals started today and basically from now until December I have absolutely no time for life, but really its such a great experience and I'm so thankful for the opportunity! I was cast in like all of the Main dances and have loved every minute of it so far. My mom is trying to come out for closing night and everything! It's going to be so fantastic... gosh I'm too excited for life right now. :)

Basically the moral of all this is, I LOVE IT HERE. The classes here are amazing, the faculty is amazing, and so are the students. Everyone just wants to be here and all are working so hard to make their dreams come true. There's so much artistry, support, and respect here for everyone. Its just so fantastic. I'm so glad I moved out here and now can just do what I love all day long. Gosh.. I'm so happy here its just so great. :)

So that's about it for this week, not too much happened this week other than just normal classes and auditions. Now my life is just taking class starting at 9am and rehearsing til 11pm or later. Oh the life I live... you gotta love it! :) So because I can't think of anything else I'm going to go remember a jazz combo and a monologue now... you know as I do. :)

More next week! Make good choices! Love you all!

And the Adventure Begins...

October 19,2013

Welcome Everyone! This is a blog I set up to keep everyone up to date on my rise to fame here in Hollywood, California! So lets just dive right in. I'm warning you though.... this is going to be quite a long post but JUST KEEP READING... it's quality material... I PROMISE. :)

So, I finally began the move out to California on Sunday! Dad and I packed up my car and the van and started the trek... we stopped in Arizona to see one of my super awesome friends named Makayla! (pictured below). Yeah, her name is Makayla and it's spelled the same way that my name is #mindblown haha your welcome. :) While in Arizona we went to this SUPER delicious place called Costa Vida... its like amazing Mexican food. I had these delicious nachos and basically my mind was completely blown... into pieces. (also pictured below). Oh! Something super exciting happened while at this visit... Makayla and I have been trying to successfully watch The Little Mermaid for like the past three times we have visited each other... and This time we actually watched THE ENTIRE MOVIE for like the first time. It was kind of the most fantastic thing to happen. haha Dad and I also stayed at a hotel in Arizona that was like literally across the freeway from a temple being built so obviously I had to take a picture of it!

Pictured below was my first dinner here in Hollywood! It's Salt and Pepper Chicken on Roman Greens.... It was DELICIOUS. My roomate's mom took us out to eat at this place called Tender Greens, its like 4 blocks away from the school and was totally worth it. Pure deliciousness. Yum. :)

This is what my part of the apartment looks like! Yes that bulletin board has fallen like 18 millions times... yes its currently sitting by our apartment door until we find a better way to hold it up on the wall. I'll take suggestions from anyone and everyone thank you.

Emily built us a lamp because it was so incredibly dark in our room with only one light. So because Emily's parents are the most amazing parents ever they bought us a lamp, and it looks totally and incredibly fantastic in our place!

They also bought us a bookshelf. Note: Emily built that bookshelf using a pair of scissors as a screw driver... yeah she's like the bomb.com.

My mom sent our Halloween box with me in the car so we had a Halloween box opening party and decorated our door last night. Now we officially have the cutest door in the Franklin building.

This is what we do in the little amount of spare time we have here at AMDA... and its only orientation weekend. Note: Emily's face in this photo is pretty much my favorite part of it!

Emily being the amazing baker she is made us chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter cups in them.... basically they were the most delicious cookies I've ever consumed at 1 am. Thank you Emily for blessing my life in such a fantastic way.

Today was the first official day where we actually had time during the evening to just chill and hang out. So for dinner me and two of my SUPER AWESOME NEW FRIENDS went to Chipotle, and then ran to Walgreens for some little things... like command strips and hooks... and butter. Random, but totally crucial.

Pictured above is Daly, Me, and Marisa posing at a stop light while waiting for the walking sign to pop up! yeah... total models :)

All in all the first few days have been an absolute blast! I've met some super awesome and amazing people and have loved every minute of it! We had dance placements this past Friday and I think I did pretty well, finally got my wifi fixed for the most part and am just super eager to just start doing what I love every day of the week! AMDA has several shows that we are putting on this year and I'm planning on auditioning for the Dance Workshop. The rehearsal schedule is INSANE... like no joke every day 7pm-11pm and 10am-6pm on Sundays...crazy I know... but everyone says its like the most amazing thing, so auditions for that are this week so wish me luck!

That's about all I have for y'all this week, but stay tuned to hear about my first week of school! Love you all!
